What is Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy is the practice of using Hypnosis, a naturally occurring state of focused attention on the sunconscious, for the purpose of assisting a client to achieve change. This state of hypnosis is a pleasant form of relaxation, allowing the client to switch off conscious, internal dialogue and focus on the subconscious voice.

The state of hypnosis is something all of us drift in and out of to a greater or lesser degree naturally, every day.

Daydreaming is a state of hypnotic trance, as is driving a car without really remembering where we've just been.  The mind has layers and by relaxing the upper or conscious layer, we simply focus on what's underneath.

Hynposis is safe and highly effective, when used in conjunction with counselling or other forms of psychotherapy, by a qualified professional.  Professional Hypnotherapists have nothing to do with stage hypnotism and use it for the clinical and analytical examination and treatment of mental health issues.
