A session costs £40 for a 60 minute session.
Smoking Cessation therapy is charged at £150 and can last up to 3 hours. I offer a free top-up session if needed, although no-one has ever asked for it yet!
Some types of therapies work more effectively with certain conditions. I do not use hypnotherapy with every client or in every session. I would discuss using hypnotherapy with you before I did, although there is nothing to worry about I assure you! I work very much intuitively and try not to stick to rigid plans but work with my client according to their requirements.
I try to be as flexible as possible as many people cannot make daytime appointments. Therefore I offer a mixture of times including evening appointments, Saturday morning appointments, and occasionally will offer Sunday afternoon appointments for a slightly higher fee.
It is important for continuity to attend regularly in order to get the maximum from the sessions. Of course, occasionally there will be a good reason why you are unable to attend a session. I ask in these cases that my clients give me as much notice as possible by calling my mobile phone. A regular time slot each week is reserved uniquely for you; should you cancel it is unlikely that another client will be able to take your appointment. If you are unable to give 48 hours' notice or do not show for your appointment, then the full session charge will still apply.
My practice is located within a Grade II listed building within the heart of Birmingham's centre, very close to Snow Hill train station, Colmore Row, the Jewellery quarter/St Paul's, New Street train station and the Bullring. A map and location details can be found here. Major bus routes run nearby.
Yes. I comply with the Data Protection Act as well as the GHR's guidelines on confidentiality, and keep everything you say in confidence. The only times I may need to break confidentiality is in the event that I consider you currently to be a danger to yourself or another person, which is a legal requirement. The only time I may discuss your issues is with my supervisor. All responsible therapists have supervision where they talk about any issues with clients to another, experienced therapist. This ensures that the therapist is practising ethically. No details or names will ever be given, however, so you cannot be identified.
There is no such thing as a genuine guarantee that someone can stop you smoking! It is neither ethical nor really possible for anyone to 'make' you do anything you don't want to do, and no respectable therapist can guarantee a 100% success rate. It is after all your decision, as a human being with free will, whether you choose to smoke or to quit. The good news is that if you come to me with an open mind, and a genuine desire to quit smoking, then chances are, you almost certainly will.
And if you feel you need a one hour top-up session after the initial session, then that is free of charge.
Currently I only accept cash or cheque with a valid cheque guarantee card. Sorry, no debit or credit cards accepted currently.
I ask that counselling clients are as punctual as possible, rather than early or late. This is to ensure client confidentiality so that there is no "crossover" and also because very occasionally client sessions overrun. You may be the person who is having a difficult time and need to spend a bit longer in the session.
Life does not always goes to plan, so if you are running late, please just let me know by leaving a message on my mobile phone. Unfortunately because I see a lot of clients I am usually unable to extend the session time and your session time will be reduced accordingly, therefore it is better for you to arrive on time where possible.
I work in blocks of 6, or occasionally 4, sessions. This means that although some clients will need less and some need more time in therapy, that we work towards a goal and a fixed date in mind. This is reviewed at the end of those sessions, and you and I will together decide whether you need to finish sooner or continue with more sessions. I do not believe in keeping clients in therapy for any longer than necessary and treat every client as an individual. However, there is a need for some clients to engage in long-term therapy and your needs will be discussed in the sessions.
